Hounds start season with 58-41 exhibition loss at Xavier

Box score

CINCINNATI- Sophomore Katy McIntosh led the Greyhounds with eight points as the UIndy women's basketball team fell 58-41 at Xavier Saturday in the season's first exhibition.

UIndy shot just 20.8 percent from the floor as no Greyhound reached double-digits in scoring.  Nevertheless, the Hounds committed just nine turnovers and were outscored by just a single point in the second half.

The host Musketeers led by as many as 23 points early in the second but sophomore Shelby Wall capped an 11-3 run with her only 3-pointer of the game to help cut it to 16 with five minutes left.

McIntosh (pictured) added two assists and a block to her team-high point total.  Nickole Gonser and Dajana Jovanovic both grabbed six rebounds, Kristin Turner had three assists while Eliza Wortman recorded four blocks.

The Greyhounds have one more exhibition before the regular season opener Nov. 12.  UIndy travels to Indiana University Tuesday, Nov. 8 for a 7 p.m. tip with the Hoosiers.
