After holding a two sets to one lead, Northern Kentucky evened the match to force the fourth five-set match of the season for the Greyhounds. Northern Kentucky built on the momentum of winning the fourth set to race to a 9-3 lead in the fifth frame. The Greyhounds never recovered, 15-8, to make their record 1-3 in five-set matches this season. Kills by Courtney Anglemyer and Crawford and a block by Anglemyer and Kerrigan staked the Greyhounds to the early 3-0 lead and it built from there. Back-to-back Hefferan kills and another NKU error staked UIndy to another 3-0 lead to start the third set. Three more Hefferan kills, a Crawford kill and Binkerd ace built the lead to six, 8-2, and the Greyhounds were rolling. Kerrigan's kill eventually put UIndy up 10, 21-11, and Hefferan's ninth kill of the set gave WMU the win, 25-16, and the 2-1 set lead.

Kerrigan had a kill after the stoppage, but UIndy missed the next serve and could never pull closer than three points as NKU pulled away, 25-18, to even the match for a fifth set.

UIndy tallied more kills, 16-11, but had eight more errors, 10-2, as well in the fourth set. The Norse also had two aces and no errors, while the Greyhounds missed two serves with no aces.
