Women's tennis wraps up Butler Invitational

Maggie Ashby earned one of UIndy's singles wins at the Butler Invitational.

INDIANAPOLIS --
The University of Indianapolis competed against NCAA Division I opponents and city rivals Butler and IUPUI, in addition to NCAA Division III nationally-ranked DePauw, at the Butler Invitational over the weekend.

Senior Maggie Ashby defeated Elizabeth Young of DePauw 6-4, 6-3, while freshman Kelsey Matthews won 6-1, 6-4 over Lee Matthews of IUPUI. UIndy earned another singles win over the Jaguars with a 6-2, 6-3 win by senior Meghan Teunis against Abbey Neff.

In doubles, sophomore Claire Liles and freshman Brooke Boyts won 8-5 against Jesika Bays and Alisha Cummings of IUPUI, while Teunis teamed with sophomore Taylor Eckert for an 8-2 win against DePauw.

The Greyhounds will play for the third weekend in a row when they host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional running Friday-Sunday at Center Grove High School.
