INDIANAPOLIS --
Junior Kristina Kerrigan had her fifth double-double of the season and second in a row with match-high 15 kills, 12 digs, two assists and .375 attack percentage to lead UIndy volleyball past No. 17 Lewis, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22), in front of a packed house of 712 at Ruth Lilly Center on Friday night.

With the 100-strong Greyhound football team ringed around the concourse surrounding the court, the Greyhounds (4-4, 3-1 GLVC) stymied the Flyers (5-4, 1-3 GLVC) by holding them to .107 attacking with just 33 kills. The UIndy defense was all over the court with 74 digs, 22 more than Lewis, led by Amy Oldenburg with 18 and senior Kristina Hefferan with a career-high 17 digs and 11 kills on the way to only her second-career double-double.

Freshman Meghan Binkerd led the Greyhound attack with 36 assists, 11 digs, five kills and two blocks as all five of her starting attackers had five or more kills. Freshman Julia Watkins earned her first-career start in the middle and responded with a team-high five blocks with five kills, while fellow freshman Courtney Roach came off the bench to contribute 10 digs.

The Flyers were led by Danielle Mount with nine kills and five blocks, while Amy Choi picked up 13 digs.

Kills by Courtney Anglemyer and Kerrigan and two blocks by Watkins and Binkerd pushed the Greyhounds to a 10-6 lead in the opening set, but the Flyers stormed back. Lewis used a 13-3 run to turn things around and take a six-point lead, 19-13. The Flyers finally missed a serve to end the 9-0 portion of their run and UIndy took advantage of the opening with a 9-2 run to regain the lead, 22-21, after back-to-back errors by Jen Krumwiede. The Flyers scored to tie, but kills by Kerrigan and Watkins gave UIndy set point, where Lewis misfired, 25-22.

Both teams had 12 kills in the first set and hit under .100 with Lewis at .040 and UIndy at .065. The Hounds had one ace and one service error, while Lewis tallied two missed serves.

The Greyhounds faced another big hole to start the second set with Lewis scoring eight of the first 12 points. UIndy came back to even the score, 10-10, after a Kerrigan kill, but Lewis built its lead back to five, 16-11. Kerrigan and Watkins put up kills to start another UIndy comeback. Still trailing by two, 19-17, the Hounds rattled off seven consecutive kills (three by Kerrigan, two by Binkerd, one by Hefferan and one by Anglemyer) to earn set point, 24-19. Lewis saved one, but another Kerrigan kill gave UIndy the set, 25-20.

UIndy scored 23-of-25 points on kills in the second set with a .340 attack percentage, including 10 kills by Kerrigan.

The Greyhounds scored the first three points of the third set and quickly built the lead to nine, 20-11, after a kill by Hefferan. The Flyers made things interesting to pull within two, 23-21, but two Hefferan kills ended the drama, 25-22.

The Hounds put 13 more kills on the board in the third, while limiting Lewis to eight kills and seven errors for .027 attacking.

UIndy remains at Ruth Lilly Center Saturday at 3 p.m. against Wisconsin-Parkside (4-5, 3-1 GLVC).
