INDIANAPOLIS --
The University of Indianapolis volleyball team needed only 61 minutes to put away Wisconsin-Parkside, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-17), in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Ruth Lilly Center. The Greyhounds (5-4, 4-1 GLVC) won for the third match in a row behind an offense that hit .297 and also dialed up a season-high 11 aces against the Rangers (4-6, 3-2 GLVC).

Senior Kristina Hefferan led the way with 13 kills, five digs and four aces, while junior Kristina Kerrigan hit .467 with nine kills, three digs, two aces and two blocks.

Freshman Meghan Binkerd again led the offense with 25 digs in 2.5 sets of work, in addition to six kills attacking .556 and six digs.

Defensively, Amy Oldenburg led the Hounds with 13 digs, while freshman Courtney Roach added 10 digs and six assists.

The Rangers were led by Caroline Langer with 13 kills attacking .478, while Addie Kramer hit .467 with seven kills. Overall, Parkside could only manage to hit .152 as a team. Libero Stacie Bower led all players with 15 digs.

UIndy scored the first four points of the match and continued to build the lead to nine, 20-11, after four kills in a row. The Rangers were unable to rally and a kill by freshman Julia Watkins closed the opening set, 25-15.

The Greyhounds hit .312 with 15 kills, six by Hefferan, while limiting the Rangers to .030 attacking with nine kills and eight errors.

The second set proved to be the most competitive with seven ties and five lead changes. The Rangers held the early advantage, 7-4, but UIndy battled back to take a three-point lead, 14-11, after a Kerrigan/Watkins block and Kerrigan kill. Wisconsin-Parkside scored four of the next five to tie, 15-15, but could never regain the lead. A late run by UIndy gave them their largest lead, 25-20, when Kerrigan ended the set with an ace.

UIndy hit .323 with 13 kills in the set, including 5-of-5 attacking by Kerrigan, and dialed up five aces with three from Courtney Anglemyer. Parkside improved to hit .237 with 14 kills in the second set.

The first dozen points of the third set went back-and-forth until the Greyhounds were able to string together a 12-3 run to establish an eight-point lead, 17-9, after a Hefferan termination. That proved to be more than enough to hold off the Rangers with Kerrigan ending the match, 25-17, with a kill on the first match point.

UIndy hit .250 with 11 kills in the final stanza and held Parkside to 10 kills attacking .179. UIndy was also able to ace the Rangers five more times in the third set.

The Greyhounds continue their five-match homestand with three more next week. UIndy steps out of the GLVC to host NAIA No. 15 Taylor (9-2) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Conference play resumes on Friday at 7 p.m. against in-state rival Southern Indiana (6-2, 4-0 GLVC) and Saturday at 3 p.m. versus Kentucky Wesleyan (3-8, 0-4 GLVC).
