INDIANAPOLIS --
Seniors Kristina Hefferan and Courtney Anglemyer combined for 27 kills to lead UIndy volleyball past NAIA No. 13 Taylor, 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-21), on Tuesday night at Ruth Lilly Center.

The Greyhounds (6-4), receiving votes for the fourth consecutive week in the AVCA NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll, benefitted from Anglemyer hitting .500 with a season-high 11 kills and Hefferan hit .357 with 16 kills and 10 digs for her second double-double in the last three matches.

UIndy limited Taylor to .154 attacking, but Kelsey Pritchard did account for a match-high 17 kills and Courtney Herschberger tallied 17 digs.

Taylor started fast against the Greyhounds by opening a 6-1 lead in the first set. The Greyhounds gradually started to come back and took their first lead, 14-12, after a pair of errors by Taylor. Back-to-back kills by Hefferan around a Taylor timeout stretched the lead to four, 18-14, but Taylor answered with three in a row, 18-17. A kill by Anglemyer and ace by Hefferan helped UIndy score the next three to go back up four, 21-17, and another error by Taylor clinched the set, 25-19.

UIndy hit .385 with 12 kills, two aces and two blocks in the first set, while Taylor had one more kill, but hit just .100 with nine errors.

A triple block by Hefferan, freshman Julia Waktins and junior Kourtney Crawford gave UIndy a four-point lead, 12-8, but the Trojans roared back to take a two-point lead of their own, 17-15, that made head coach Jody Rogers call timeout. The Trojans still led by two, 18-16, when UIndy went on a 6-1 run, highlighted by back-to-back Crawford kills, to take a three-point lead, 22-19. That proved to be the final margin, 25-22, when Hefferan had a kill on set point number two.

Hefferan had six kills in the second set as UIndy totaled 16 on .256 attacking and Taylor had 14 kills on .130 attacking.

The Greyhounds wouldn't take any chances in the third set by quickly establishing a nine-point lead, 12-3, after an ace by Courtney Roach. The lead eventually ballooned to 11, 20-9, and the Greyhounds hung on from their to win the set, 25-21, on a kill from Anglemyer.

UIndy had 17 kills in the final set and three aces, while Taylor accounted for 13 kills and hit .227 against .265 for the Greyhounds.
