UIndy Invitational Central
INDIANAPOLIS -- The No. 14 University of Indianapolis volleyball team fell to No. 12 Minnesota-Duluth, 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 25-13), on Saturday in the Ruth Lilly Center in its third match of the UIndy Invitational.
The Greyhounds (0-3) were led by seniors
Kristina Hefferan and
Hannah Kelzer with 13 and 12 kills, while juniors
Amy Oldenburg and
Kristina Kerrigan paced the defense with 19 and 13 digs, respectively against the Bulldogs (4-0).
Freshman setter
Meghan Binkerd finished with 38 assists, seven digs and four kills, while senior
Courtney Anglemyer added a match-high six blocks (one solo), in addition to eight kills.
UIndy was held to .168 attacking with 46 kills and 21 errors, while UMD countered by hitting .235 with 55 kills and 20 errors. The Bulldogs also had 11 more digs (72-61), but both teams did compile eight total blocks.
Duluth was led by Kate Lange with 21 kills attacking .333, 16 digs, three block solos and two aces, while Hannah Johnson hit .312 with 14 kills. Setter Eleena Iisakka tallied 44 assists and 10 digs.
UIndy concludes tournament play in the first match on Sunday at Ruth Lilly Center against Midwest region rival Saginaw Valley State (1-1) at 10 a.m. Florida Tech plays Northern Kentucky at noon, followed by NKU against SVSU at 2 p.m.
