Consecutive errors by SVSU and kills by Binkerd and Hefferan tied the score, but SVSU scored to keep the lead, 9-8. A ball-handling error and two more Hefferan kills gave UIndy its first lead, 11-9, until SVSU tied the set with two points of its own. The Cardinals wouldn't score again as the Greyhounds made sideout on a Hefferan kill and ended the match on a termination by Kerrigan, 15-11.
In the first set, the Hounds broke open a tie match, 5-5, with a 9-2 run to take control, 14-7, after a solo block by Hefferan. The Cardinals couldn't make a serious run and dropped the first set, 25-18, on an error after saving four set points.
