HOMECOMING 2012
The GLVC-leading Greyhounds return to Key Stadium to host Saint Joseph's in the team's annual Homecoming game.  The homecoming label is especially fitting this week as UIndy begins a home stint that spans four of the next five weeks.

ABOUT SAINT JOSPEH'S
As the state's only other NCAA Division II football team, St. Joseph's brings a 3-2 overall record into play this weekend, including a 2-0 GLVC mark.  The Pumas are led by second-year head coach and former SJC-standout Cory Sanders.

Wide receiver Julian Walker paces an offensive attack that ranks third in the league in scoring (30.2).  Walker, an Indianapolis native and Southport High School grad, averages 9.4 catches and 97.0 receiving yards per game, with the former good for fourth in Division II.  Meanwhile, his six touchdowns are second only to UIndy's Klay Fiechter in the league rankings.

HOUNDS vs. PUMAS
Saint Joseph's is one of only three teams (Ashland, KWC) on UIndy's 2012 slate that the Hounds have any history with.  The in-state rivals have hooked up 36 times previously, with UIndy owning a commanding 25-10-1 lead in a series that dates back to 1971.

UIndy and St. Joseph's last faced off in 2007 in Rensselaer when the Hounds ran the ball 52 times for 274 yards in a 42-16 win.  The victory was UIndy's 12th straight versus the Pumas.

This season, the two have just one common opponent through five weeks, as both squads earned a win versus Quincy.  The Hounds' victory came on the road in a 35-7 final Sept. 15, while SJC recorded a 24-21 overtime win against the Hawks at home last weekend.

BACK ON THE RADAR
After a four-week absence from the American Football Coaches Association Division II Poll, the Greyhounds are back in the national voters' minds, as the team received votes in this week's AFCA poll.  UIndy appeared in the preseason edition, but after its season-opening loss at Ashland -- who's ranked ninth in the country this week -- fell off the national radar until the release of the latest version, which came out Monday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Greyhounds earned a statement win Saturday night with a 54-35 road victory at Missouri S&T.  The final handed the Miners their first loss of the season while also giving the Greyhounds sole possession of first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings.  Three different Hounds recorded an interception in the win, with all three picks leading to UIndy touchdowns.

GLVC TOP PERFORMERS
Two of the three GLVC weekly honors went to Greyhounds, as Klay Fiechter and Tyler Peterman earned the league's Special Teams Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

Fiechter racked up 272 all-purpose yards on the night, including a career-high 190  yards on the ground.  He also picked up four rushing touchdowns, including a lengthy 34-yard and a marathon 78-yard score.  It marks the second GLVC Special Teams Player of the Week nod for Fiechter in the last three weeks.

On the other side of the ball, Peterman amassed a game-high 13 total tackles, with 11 being solo stops and three coming behind the line of scrimmage.  He also earned  his first INT of the season with a pick in the game-changing second quarter.

ABOUT THAT 2ND QUARTER...
UIndy found itself trailing 14-7 midway through the second quarter at S&T last Saturday.  That fact could not have changed more quickly, however, as the Hounds exploded for 26 points in the half's final seven minutes to take a 33-14 lead into the locker room.  The Hounds converted all four third-down chances in the period, while possessing the ball for more than two-thirds of the time (10:18).

The scoring outburst marked the Greyhounds' most points scored in a quarter since they hung 27 on Tiffin in the second quarter of a Oct. 25, 2008 contest.  Coincidentally, UIndy finished with 54 points in both games.

"MOST SINCE..."
The team's second-quarter point total was one of many “most since” occurrences for the Hounds at S&T.  Below is a concise list.

NOSE FOR THE ZONE
UIndy suddenly has two players in the school's all-time top 10 in career touchdowns.  With 29 and 23 career TDs respectively, Mar'quone Edmonds and Klay Fiechter each rank in the program's top eight.

WHAT'S THE CATCH?
Already UIndy's record holder for most receiving TDs in a season and in a career, Edmonds is fast approaching yet another major UIndy benchmark.  The Waukegan, Ill., native needs just seven catches Saturday to break the school's career receptions record of 196, currently held by Cesare Manning (2000-03).

Edmonds is also in striking distance of Manning's career receiving yards mark.  He needs 420 yards to pass Manning and just 62 to move into second place.

ON POINT
UIndy has scored at least 35 points each of its three GLVC games to date.  The Hounds are averaging 44.7 points per game in conference play, good for tops in the league.

HOUNDS ON THE RADIO
In addition to the television broadcast mentioned above, the Greyhounds can be heard on WICR 88.7 FM.  You can also catch the an audio stream on the Internet at wicr.uindy.edu/audio.
