RENSSELAER, Ind. – No. 10 UIndy volleyball head coach
Jody Rogers won her 400th career match at Scharf Fieldhouse on Tuesday night as her Greyhounds defeated Saint Joseph's, 3-1 (25-14, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20), to remain unbeaten in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Rogers is now 400-175 (.696) in her 16th season leading the Greyhounds (25-3, 14-0 GLVC). That run includes 14 consecutive seasons of at least 22 wins, six NCAA Tournament appearances, three GLVC Championships, a trip to the 2009 Elite Eight and earning the 2009 AVCA National Coach of the Year award.
UIndy used a balanced and diverse effort to take down the Pumas (6-21, 1-13 GLVC) for the 22nd consecutive time.
Kristina Kerrigan added to her GLVC lead with her 16th double-double of 12 kills and 12 digs, while
Kourtney Crawford added 11 kills, six blocks and three digs.
Brittany Anglemyer hit .318 with 10 kills, while freshman
Hailey Brown came off the bench to hit .412 with 10 kills in three sets. The Greyhounds hit .252 as a team with 58 kills as setter
Meghan Binkerd had 47 assists, 13 digs, five kills and career-high four blocks (three solo).
Julia Watkins had a match-high eight blocks, including two solo, as the Greyhounds limited SJC to .155 hitting with 50 kills.
Amy Oldenburg led the back line with 15 digs, while Kim Trojan and
Kenzie Bruggeman each had 10.
The Pumas were led by Erin Hyland with 15 kills, 11 digs and three blocks, while Allison Krips added 12 kills. Gappy Raspopovich led Saint Joseph's with 13 digs and the assists were split between Leah Zehme with 21 and Megan Strum with 20.
The Greyhounds wrap their five-match road swing with two more this weekend as they head to Lewis (19-9, 11-3 GLVC) on Friday and Wisconsin-Parkside (17-9, 6-8 GLVC) on Saturday. The Flyers won at the Rangers, 3-1, this evening.
