INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Kourtney Crawford hit .538 with eight kills to lead No. 10 UIndy volleyball past Wisconsin-Parkside, 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-8), in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both squads.

The Greyhounds (7-2, 1-0 GLVC) needed only 57 minutes to hand the Rangers (7-2, 0-1 GLVC) their second loss of the season.

Senior Kristina Kerrigan tied for match-high honors with 10 kills, along with nine digs, as UIndy hit .351 as a team, while holding UWP to .080 hitting. Junior Brittany Anglemyer hit .417 with six kills, while freshman Hailey Brown added six kills and hit .333. Sophomore setter Meghan Binkerd spread the ball around with 31 assists, while freshman Karsey King came off the bench to contribute five assists.

"We really showed up ready and focused tonight," head coach Jody Rogers said. "We had to go five against Parkside last year at their place and the players knew they were tough and this could be a challenging match. It was great to get so many players involved and everybody really stepped up when their number was called."

UIndy totaled 42 kills, while holding the Rangers to 24 kills. UIndy did it with back row defense by picking up 52 digs, including a match-high 17 by senior Amy Oldenburg. Binkerd added nine and Brown had eight. The Greyhounds were also very aggressive serving with 10 aces, including three each by sophomore Kim Trojan and freshman Shelby Holland.

The Greyhounds used a 10-3 run to break an early tie and lead by seven, 13-6, after a pair of Kerrigan kills around back-to-back Anglemyer aces. The lead was never under four and UIndy took the set after an error by the Rangers, 25-17. UIndy hit .302 in the set with six kills from Kerrigan, while UWP hit .186.

Wisconsin-Parkside missed the first serve of the second set and were behind the rest of the way. The Greyhounds used a number of three-point runs to consistently pull away from the Rangers, including five in a row to end the set on two Anglemyer kills around a Holland ace, 25-14. The Rangers hit .000 with eight kills and eight errors, while UIndy hit .310 with 11 kills.

The Rangers scored the first point of the third, but that was the only highlight as UIndy immediately tacked up a 13-1 rally to put any hopes of a comeback to bed, 13-2. The Greyhounds continued to pull away and won on an error by UWP, 25-8. The Rangers had only four kills and hit .000, while UIndy hit .480 with 15 kills, including four kills in five attempts by Anglemyer.

Bridget Nickel led UWP with 10 kills, while Sarah Mlachnik tallied 13 digs.

The Greyhounds return to Ruth Lilly Center on Saturday at 3 p.m. to host Lewis (3-5, 0-0 GLVC), which is receiving votes just outside the Top 25, in a rematch of last year's conference tournament championship match. It is Black Out Saturday and all fans are encouraged to wear black to the match in solidarity with the Greyhounds.
