INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 9 University of Indianapolis volleyball team has opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a 3-0 mark, but now takes to the road for its first GLVC away matches of the season at league newcomer McKendree on Friday at 8 p.m. and Bellarmine on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Greyhounds (9-2, 3-0 GLVC) will be playing the Bearcats (5-6, 1-2 GLVC) for the only the second time in school history after a five-set win on Oct. 18, 1997. Saturday's match will be the 55th meeting against the Knights (5-2, 2-1 GLVC) with UIndy holding a 36-18 lead with four wins in a row and 22 of the last 25.
UIndy is on a six-match winning streak with four sweeps in a row after defending its home court to start conference action. In conference play, senior
Kristina Kerrigan is averaging 4.89 kills per set on her way to ranking second in the nation with 4.92 kills per set.
Brittany Anglemyer ranks second in the conference with a .500 attack percentage, followed by
Kourtney Crawford hitting .379 to rank seventh and
Hailey Brown is 10th at .344.
Sophomore setter
Meghan Binkerd is 14th nationally with 11 assists per set as UIndy leads the conference in all matches with a .253 attack percentage.
The Greyhounds are already 2-0 in true road matches this season with a 3-1 win at current No. 17 West Florida and a sweep of Findlay in the third win of this six-match winning streak.
