Greyhounds fall in straight sets to Flyers

Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy volleyball team fell in straight sets to Lewis (25-18, 25-14, 25-20). The loss is the third in a row for the Hounds, and the first at home.

Lewis (13-5, 9-1 GLVC) did not trail until the third set, and was tied only once with UIndy (1-1 early in the first set).

The Greyhounds (11-8, 7-3 GLVC) again found themselves in a deep hole to start the third set. Down 8-1, the Hounds rattled off a 12-5 run to pull the set to a 13-13 draw. It would remain back and forth until the Flyers were able to score four points in a row to end the set and match.

UIndy was led offensively by Julia Watkins' nine kills and Meghan Binkerd's 31 assists. Hailey Brown finished with eight kills, while Brittany Anglemyer had seven, hitting .333. The Hounds as a team hit just .118 for the match.

The Flyers were paced by Kim Vertin (14) and Alexis Davito (10), who each recorded double digit kills. Vertin hit .406 for the match. As a team, Lewis hit over .300 in each set and .344 for the match.

UIndy faces Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday for its Dig Pink match at the Ruth Lilly Center.
