Greyhounds sweep Rangers in Dig Pink match

Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – Sporting bright pink jerseys, the UIndy volleyball squad righted the ship on a straight set victory over Wisconsin-Parkside (25-20, 25-13, 25-19). The Greyhounds' Dig Pink match victory snapped a three-match skid, and brought the season record to 12-8 (8-3 GLVC).

The UIndy offense successfully modeled Coach Jason Reed's philosophy of speed and balance. Setter Meghan Binkerd dished 33 assists, as six Greyhounds contributed to the team's 39 kills. Freshman Becca Lira finished with nine kills and a .571 hitting percentage, her second highest of the season (minimum five kills). Brittany Anglemyer continued her offensive efficiency, hitting .300 with nine kills. She has now hit .300 or better in 13 matches this season. Hailey Brown had seven kills, and Kenzie Bruggeman finished with six. UIndy hit .276, the fifth highest percentage of the season.

Bruggeman paced the Hounds defensively with 16 digs, and Binkerd finished with 11. Kimberly Trojan had 10 digs from the libero position.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, UIndy and the Side-Out Foundation are raising funds for organizations that serve breast cancer patients, which includes research, medical services and patient support. The Hounds wore pink, and the Ruth Lilly Center was decked in pink accessories for the match. UIndy's team goal for the month is $2,500, and donations can be made through the end of October.

The Hounds will be in action next weekend at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover in Aurora, Ill.
