Hounds open GLIAC/GLVC Crossover with straight set win

Box Score Aurora, Ill. – UIndy volleyball kicked off the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament with a straight set win over Wayne State (25-17, 25-21, 25-13).

The Greyhounds (13-8, 8-3 GLVC) outmatched the Warriors from start to finish, trailing only twice all match (0-1 deficits to start the first and second sets). It was the second time this season the Hounds swept Wayne State (8-12, 5-6 GLIAC), the first coming September 14th at the UW-Parkside Tournament.

UIndy hit .262 for the match, starting with a .486 attack percentage in the first set. The Warriors hit just .130 as a team.

The Hounds offense ran behind Meghan Binkerd's 36 assists. Kenzie Bruggeman paced UIndy with 11 kills, while Brittany Anglemyer recorded 10 with a .364 attack percentage. It was Anglemyer's 14th match of the season hitting over .300. Hailey Brown totaled eight kills and eight digs, and Becca Lira had six kills and an even .300 hitting percentage.

Bruggeman and Kimberly Trojan finished with 11 digs, while Areille Knafel led the team with 13.

The Greyhounds continue play in the Crossover Saturday against No. 22 Ferris State and Hillsdale.
