INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy volleyball team defeated Quincy in straight sets on the Greyhounds' Senior Day (25-12, 25-12, 25-18).
The careers of
Brittany Anglemyer,
Kenzie Bruggeman and trainer Matt Harrison were celebrated before the game, and on the court the Hounds took care of business in quick fashion. While her focus was on the match, Bruggeman also recognized the significance of Senior Day.
"I feel like Brittany and I have both been really big leaders on the court, so it's nice to take time to sit back be recognized for what we've put into this program," said Bruggeman, who finished with eight kills and six digs.
Anglemyer finished a hot-hitting weekend with a .833 attack percentage (15 kills on 18 swings), good for her 18th match of the season over .300.
UIndy (17-9, 11-3 GLVC) dominated each set from beginning to end, as the match saw just nine ties and five lead changes. The Greyhounds hit a sharp .451, by far a season-high mark, as five Greyhounds hit over .300.
Setter
Meghan Binkerd had 42 assists, while
Hailey Brown and
Kimberly Trojan had 13 and 10 digs, respectively.
The win was the fourth in a row for the Greyhounds.
"We know that we can compete with the top teams in the nation," said Bruggeman. "It's good to build our moral back up and know that we can do this and we're not the average team everyone is starting to think we are."
UIndy has a quick turnaround as it hosts St. Joseph's Tuesday night.
