INDIANAPOLIS – A sharp-shooting Purdue-Calumet spoiled the UIndy women's basketball home opener, 87-80, in Nicoson Hall.

Though it was a regular-season contest for the Greyhounds, the game was actually an exhibiton affair for PCU (6-2).  They they hit just eight two-point field goals on the night, but the Peregrines torched the Greyhounds' 2-3 zone with 55-percent shooting (16-for-29) from from three-point land.  The visiters also looked comfortable at the Nicoson Hall foul line, sinking 23-of-27 (.852) freebies.

Brooklyn Short led the Peregrines, scoring 26 points behind seven threes. Kami Graber and Cassidy Deno scored 22 and 19, respectively, as the three accounted for over 75 percent of PUC's points.

The No. 18 Greyhounds (4-2) struggled to keep pace from long distance, hitting seven of their 24 three-point attempts. Despite finishing with more field goals and a higher overall shooting percentage, the Peregrines long-range shooting proved too much.

Katy McIntosh and Princess German led UIndy with 14 each, while Eliza Wortman added 13 points and eight rebounds. Dajana Jovanovic tallied 10 points off the bench.

UIndy looks to rebound with a key region game versus Wayne State Saturday, Nov. 30.  Tip time from Nicoson Hall is scheduled for 2 p.m.
