Women's basketball drops final exhibition 70-65 at Xavier

CINCINNATI – The UIndy women's basketball squad fell on the road to Xavier 70-65 in the final exhibition game of the season Sunday.

After struggling offensively in Saturday's exhibition against Indiana State, the Greyhounds were able to shoot 47.3 percent from the floor Sunday. In the second half, the Hounds shot 56 percent (14 of 25). UIndy held Division-I Xavier to 41.1 percent shooting, and outrebounded the Musketeers 36-30.

In the closely contested game, Xavier's ability to convert at the charity stripe (18 of 22 free throws) provided the Musketeers an advantage.

Senior Katy McIntosh led the Greyhounds with 13 points on 5-7 shooting, to go along with six assists. Sophomore transfer Princess German tallied 11 points, and senior Rose Savela had 10 points on a perfect shooting day. Savela went 3-3, including 2-2 from the three-point line and 2-2 on free throws.

Kirsten Gliesmann grabbed 11 boards, and chipped in six points and two blocks. Dajana Jovanovic scored eight points and pulled in five rebounds.

The Greyhounds begin regular season play at the Disney D-II Tip-Off West Coast Classic next weekend.
