UIndy volleyball rallies to defeat UMSL 3-2

Box Score ST. LOUIS – UIndy volleyball rallied from a 0-2 deficit to defeat the University of Missouri-St. Louis 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14, 15-10) Sunday in GLVC action.

It marked the first time this season UIndy came back from 0-2 to win.

"We really showed some great composure after being down 0-2," said Head Coach Jason Reed. "We weren't necessarily playing poorly in those first two sets, but UMSL was more consistent from start to finish. In the third set, we fought hard to push the match into extra sets and gain momentum."

The Greyhounds hit .256 in the third set, winning a game that featured 10 ties and three lead changes.

"In the fourth set, we made some great blocking adjustments to really give ourselves the advantage," Reed continued. "I'm really proud of how well we battled this entire weekend."

The Greyhounds (16-9, 10-3 GLVC) finished with 66 kills, 100 digs and 13 total blocks, each the third highest total for this season. The offense was run by setter Meghan Binkerd, who tallied 55 assists in the win.

Kenzie Bruggeman had 21 kills and 11 digs, recording her 12th double-double of the year. Hailey Brown also had a double-double – her 11th – with 15 kills and 17 digs. Brittany Anglemyer finished with 12 kills.

Defensively, Kimberly Trojan racked up 30 digs, and Binkerd chipped in 23, both individual season highs. Arielle Knafel finished with 11 digs.

The five-set victory was the Greyhounds' fifth of the season, moving UIndy to 5-3 in such matches.
