INDIANAPOLIS – Eleven Greyhounds scored in an
81-51 rout of Cedarville (3-4) in Nicoson Hall Saturday, moving UIndy to 4-0 in regional play.
Any rotation seemed to work for Coach
Constantin Popa, as eleven Hounds saw at least 15 minutes of action and scored at least four points.
Katy McIntosh and
Shelby Wall each netted 11 points to lead the Crimson and Grey, but it was the complete team performance that led to the overwhelming victory.
The Greyhounds (6-2) raced out to an early lead behind 59 percent shooting in the first half, including 6-for-14 from three-point range. The Lady Jackets' 2-3 zone struggled to stop a balanced Greyhound offense as UIndy grabbed a 45-24 lead at the break.
Popa's squad kept the pressure on throughout the contest, pushing the tempo as often as possible. UIndy finished 29-of-52 (55.8 percent) from the floor, good for its second-best shooting performance for the season behind its 56.1 effort against Montana State-Billings Nov. 9.
Rose Savela scored a season-high nine points, while
Kirsten Gliesmann and
Carly Lythjohan each had eight.
Eliza Wortman,
Erin Murphy and
Dajana Jovanovic each totaled seven points.
Defensively, the Greyhounds held Cedarville to just 36 percent shooting for the entire game, the lowest for any UIndy opponent this season. The Lady Jackets turned the ball over 27 times, and the Greyhounds had a season-high 14 steals. Eight Greyhounds recorded a steal, led by Murphy's and McIntosh's three each.
Gliesmann led UIndy with 10 rebounds and swatted three shots. Wortman chipped in four blocks, moving her season total to 20.
The Greyhounds are next in action Dec. 16 at Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, Tenn.
