LOUISVILLE- The visiting Greyhounds outscored Bellarmine 16-2 on the day in taking a doubleheader sweep of the Knights Sunday.
GAME ONE: UIndy 6 - Bellarmine 2
After a pair of scoreless innings, UIndy (20-17; 12-14 GLVC) cracked into the scoring column with a pair of runs on a
Jake Hartley homer to right in the top of the third inning.
The Greyhounds would add a single run in the fifth on a Dan Eliopolus RBI groundout, and three more in the top of the seventh on three hits.
Back-to-back RBI hits from
Tyler O'Daniel and
Brady Thomas provided the offense in the seventh, with Thomas finishing the game 3-for-4 at the dish with a pair of RBIs.
Josh Witt (6-2) earned the victory, surrendering just one run on five hits over five innings pitched before making way for
Clint Seefeldt, who earned his first save of the season in tossing a pair of innings in relief.
GAME TWO: UIndy 10 - Bellarmine 0 (8 inn.)
The Greyhounds put up four runs in the first two innings in game two, with an RBI single from O'Daniel plating the opening run of the ballgame.
Jake Weinzapfel,
Scott Lawley and Hartley provided the RBIs in the second inning, with Hartley adding another pair in the top of the fourth on a two-run double to right to push the score to 6-0.
A
Mitch Ransburg sacrifice fly to right in the seventh plated Eliopulos, and the Greyhounds put up three more runs in the eighth to take the run-rule victory over the Knights.
Hartley, O'Daniel and Thomas each added another RBI to their statline in the seventh, with Hartley finishing with four for the game. Weinzapfel had four hits, while both Lawley and Hartley added three apiece to the 18 total hits by the Greyhounds in the offensive contest.
Matthew Kaplanis (3-0) again went the distance, scattering just five hits over eight complete innings of shutout work.
The Greyhounds look to make up a missed GLVC DH at Saint Joseph's this week, before hosting their final home series of the season this Saturday and Sunday as the Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside will come to Greyhound Park.
