INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy football team received its 2012 GLVC Championship rings Monday. The commemoritve jewelery immortalizes the Greyhounds' historic season last fall. The team not only ran the table with a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play, but also set a program-record for wins in a season (10) while earning its first-ever Division II playoff berth.
Led by third-year head coach
Bob Bartolomeo, UIndy's 2012 postseason run included a 31-14 first-round win versus No. 8 Midwestern State Nov. 17 in front of a raucous Key Stadium crowd of 6,235. UIndy's second-round playoff appearance helped the team to a No. 15 ranking in the year's final American Football Coaches Association Division II Poll.
The Greyhounds open the 2013 season at home versus regional-rival Ashland Sept. 7.
