UIndy volleyball defeats Drury in straight sets

Box Score Springfield, Ill. – After a disappointing GLVC opener Saturday, the Greyhounds responded with a straight set victory over conference foe Drury (25-18, 25-22, 25-21).  

The UIndy volleyball squad followed Saturday's loss to Missouri S&T with a dominating 3-0 win over Drury, leading in most statistical categories. The Greyhounds (5-5, 1-1 GLVC) finished with 51 kills to Drury's 33, and 47 assists to Drury's 33. The Panthers (5-6, 1-1) hit just .191 to UIndy's .298.

Setter Meghan Binkerd recorded 40 assists, spreading the ball around the Greyhound offense. Kenzie Bruggeman led the Hounds with 16 kills, while Hailey Brown finished with 13 and Brittany Anglemyer added nine. All three attackers finished with hitting percentages above .300.

Alyssa Garrett and Kimberly Trojan chipped in 14 and 13 digs, respectively, on defense. Brown also added 10 digs.

"This was a great team win on the road," said head coach Jason Reed. "I think the team came in really focused and controlled our side. We will continue to improve this week in practice, as we look forward to our first home weekend."

The Greyhounds next compete in their home opener Saturday against Rockhurst.
