Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy volleyball team finished off the opening home weekend with a 3-2 victory over William Jewell (22-25, 25-17, 29-27, 17-25, 15-11).

For the second match in a row, the Greyhounds (7-5, 3-1 GLVC) rallied in the fifth set after dropping the fourth. The Cardinals (1-12, 0-4 GLVC) presented a stiff challenge for UIndy, winning set one out of the gate to take an early advantage.

In the definition of a "back-and-forth match," the Greyhounds were able to swing momentum back in their favor, winning sets two and three. Set four was controlled by William Jewell from start to finish.

Tied 2-2, the Greyhounds found an extra burst of offense in the final set from Hailey Brown's four kills and .333 hitting percentage. Brown finished with a match and season-high 22 kills to lead the Greyhound offense.

After posting a career-high 70 assists Saturday, Meghan Binkerd finished Sunday's match with 55. Becca Lira played an effective all-around game, finishing with 10 kills, hitting .318 while adding four assisted and one solo block. Freshman Alyssa Garrett turned in her best performance of the season defensively, recording 35 digs, 20 more than her next highest output.

William Jewell was led offensively by Kaylee Marquardt, Kelsey Wagner and Christina Pratt, who each finished with double-digit kills. Setter Cailynn Hayter dished 43 assists, while Libero Katie Damgar recorded 28 digs.

The Hounds are home next weekend, hosting Bellarmine Friday and Southern Indiana Saturday.
