INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Erin Murphy scored a career-high 24 points to lift the 22nd-ranked UIndy women's basketball team (20-5, 11-3 GLVC) to an 87-74 win against visiting Truman State Thursday night.

The career night came just a week after Murphy set her season high with 18 points at Maryville last Thursday. The senior-transfer's previous best was 23 points while playing at IPFW.

Rose Savela also tied a career high with 15 points, finishing a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line, while grabbing eight boards.

The Greyhounds shot 56 percent from the floor and 17-for-18 (.944) from the foul line to help notch their 20th win of the season, making this the first 20-win campaign under Head Coach Constantin Popa.

The near-perfect performance from the charity stripe included a perfect 12-for-12 second half, in which the Greyhounds kept the Bulldogs (16-6, 10-4) at bay.

UIndy opened a sizeable lead in the first, hitting 19-of-32 shots (.594) from the floor compared to just 11-of-28 (.393) for the 'Dogs.

Truman State entered the game as the best three-point shooting team in the GLVC, hitting 8.1 per game at a .401 clip, but went 0-5 in the opening half against UIndy's defense.

Before the game, Popa said he wanted his defense to key in on Amy Briggs and Allie Norton, TSU's top two scorers. The two combined for just eight points on 3-14 shooting.

Down 47-21 at the half, the Bulldogs hung around and slowly worked their way back into the game, finally connecting on a few long range shots. The Hounds' effort from the free throw line and their own 40-point half sealed the victory.

Kelly Walter and Kirsten Gliesmann eached totaled 10 points, and Princess German and Eliza Wortman had seven.

UIndy held a large 46-30 advantage in points scored in the paint, also pushing the tempo to the tune of a 22-2 fast-break scoring edge.

The Greyhounds host 11th-ranked Quincy Saturday in Nicoson Hall, with tip set for 1:00 p.m.
