Box Score

ST. LOUIS – The 19th-ranked Greyhounds started their final out-of-state trip off with a 73-57 win over Maryville in Maloney Arena.

The Crimson and Grey took their stout second-half defense from Saturday on the road with them, holding Maryville to 25 percent shooting in the first half. The Hounds held UW-Parkside to just 13 points in the final 20 minutes Saturday, and held the Saints to just 17 in the first half Thursday.

UIndy (19-4, 10-2 GLVC) opened the game on a 10-0 run, holding Maryville (12-9, 5-6) scoreless for over four minutes. Ball movement keyed the early offense for the Hounds, who sank 10 of their first 20 shots off of eight assists. UIndy built a 21-8 lead midway through the opening period.

Six Hounds would hit at least one field goal in the first half, but the team cooled off considerably after the 10-minute mark, going just 4-of-14 down the stretch. They went to the locker rooms up 32-17 at half, however, nearly doubling up the Saints by forcing 12 first-half turnovers that resulted in 13 points.

The second half wasn't nearly as one-sided. The Greyhounds built a 43-26 edge by the first media break – tied for their largest lead of the game – but surrendered a 10-0 run that brought the Saints within seven.

Shelby Wall, the nation's second-best three point shooter, hit a triple to end the drought, and over the next few minutes the two squads went toe-to-toe.

While Maryville got within eight points on multiple occasions, UIndy used a combination of free throws and threes to keep the Saints at bay down the stretch.

The Greyhounds sank 11 of 12 from the charity stripe and hit a trio of triples in the final 10:45 of the game to pull away and seal the victory. UIndy finished the game 10-of-22 (46 percent) from long range.

Senior Erin Murphy helped keep the Hounds a step ahead of the Saints, scoring 12 of her season-high 18 in the second half. She was a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line, and added four assists and two steals. Junior Kirsten Gliesmann finished with six points, seven boards, five blocks, a steal and an assist.

Junior Kelly Walter connected on four 3-pointers, finishing with 14 points and a career-high five steals. Sophomore Princess German added 11 points in 19 minutes. Senior Rose Savela totaled five points, seven rebounds and five assists.

The Greyhounds face Missouri-St. Louis Sunday, with tip set for 2:00 p.m.
