Junior Kirsten Gliesmann totaled a career-high 20 points in the loss
Box Score

ST. LOUIS – Despite a career-high 20 points from junior Kirsten Gliesmann, the 19th-ranked Greyhounds fell 85-64 at Missouri-St. Louis Saturday afternoon.

Gliesmann's individual mark was a bright spot in the lopsided defeat for the Hounds, who were again playing with multiple players sidelined by injuries.

After leading for much of the first half, UIndy (19-5, 10-3 GLVC) surrendered the lead for good with 7:38 left before halftime.  UMSL (16-5, 9-4) was down 19-15 at the second media break, but used an 11-0 run to build a 26-19 edge, and the Tritons went into the locker rooms up 41-33.

The Greyhounds cut into the lead out of the break, pulling within 47-44 on a Rose Savela 3-pointer four minutes into the second. UIndy committed five fouls before the first media timeout, however, immediately falling into foul trouble for the remainder of the game.

From that point, UMSL went on a 21-2 run, commanding a 68-46 lead midway through the half and putting the game out of the Greyhounds' reach.

Once down, the Hounds settled for deep three-point shots in an effort to cut the Tritons' lead. Savela's early triple, however, was the only one they hit the entire 20 minutes, going 1-for-12.

The Tritons finished 22-of-31 from the charity stripe due to the Hounds' foul trouble, with 17 freebies coming in the second half alone.

Perhaps the most telling statistic was UMSL's 40-18 rebounding edge, which included 15 offensive boards resulting in 18 points. The Tritons also forced 16 UIndy turnovers, gaining a 28-8 points-off-turnovers advantage.

UMSL shot 55 percent (29-52) overall, compared to 45 percent (22-49) for the Hounds.

Hazaria Washington had a career day for UMSL, scoring 29 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She finished 11-of-16 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the free throw line en route to setting her career mark.

Gliesmann's 20 points came on an efficient 7-of-10 field goal effort and perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.

Three other Hounds finished in double figures, including Erin Murphy (12 points), Princess German (11) and Savela (10). Savela also recorded a team-high seven rebounds, followed by Dajana Jovanovic's six.

The Hounds return to Indiana for the remainder of the regular season, hosting Truman State and 11th-ranked Quincy next week.
