GAME ONE: UIndy 7, Augustana 6
UIndy snapped a six-game losing streak by winning the opener, getting a solid outing in relief from
Evan Eyer
The Greyhounds (4-8) were on the board first, as
Zach Jacobs singled and was eventually brought in by
Alex Ritchie, who reached on an error.
Augustana (6-5) responded by taking the lead in the bottom of the frame, scoring twice on three hits off of UIndy starter
Aaron Gregory.
UIndy's biggest inning came in the top of the third, when they scored four runs on just two hits. Viking starter Ryan Hamilton sandwiched two strikeouts around two walks and a hit-by-pitch, loading the bases with two outs.
Kenny Mahala and
Joe Trennepohl then delivered consecutive two-run singles, chasing Hamilton and giving the Hounds a 5-2 edge.
The Vikings would match in the bottom of the frame, scoring four of their own on three hits and two Greyhound errors. Eyer was brought on to relieve Gregory before the first out was recorded as the first five Augustana batters reached safely.
UIndy bounced back to tie the game at 6-6 when Ritchie brought home
Anthony Asalon on an RBI single in the top of the fourth, and the two squads remained in a deadlock until the final inning.
In the top of the seventh, Trennepohl singled with two outs to score Ritchie and give the Greyhounds the decisive 7-6 lead. The Vikings threatened in the bottom of the frame, putting two on the bases, but Eyer shut the door to earn his first win of the season.
Gregory finished with four earned runs* in two-plus innings, allowing six hits while striking out three. Eyer (1-0) gave up just two hits in five innings of relief work, facing just three over the minimum and fanning seven Viking batters.
Mahala and Ritchie each finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Trennepohl went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
GAME TWO: Augustana 5, UIndy 2
Augustana, playing as the visiting team in game two, got on the board in the top of the first, scoring one on Greyhound starter

Scott Mitchell came in and stopped the bleeding by retiring the next two batters to end the frame.
The Vikings jumped out to a 4-0 lead by scoring three in the third off of two hits and one UIndy error.
The Greyhounds countered with two runs in the bottom of the third, bring the score to 4-2. With two outs on the board,
Jake Weinzapfel singled to plate
David Gunst and Ritchie doubled to bring around Asalon. UIndy left two runners in scoring position, however, missing an opportunity to pull even with the Vikings.
