INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy baseball squad completed a series sweep over visiting Bellarmine Saturday, winning by scores of 1-0 and 7-4.

It's the fifth GLVC series win for the Crimson and Grey, and first four-game sweep of the season.

GAME ONE: UIndy 1, Bellarmine 0

Evan Eyer (4-1) spun a three-hit complete game to lead the Greyhounds in the series-clinching win. The Indianapolis native walked two batters, struck out one and faced just four over the minimum.

Eyer needed just 89 pitches, getting 11 groundouts and eight flyouts while earning his fourth victory of the season. In his last four starts, the senior righty has a 0.32 ERA in 28 innings of work, giving up 20 hits and one earned run while punching out 15.

Bellarmine also got a solid start out of Jes Staples (1-2), who went five innings, allowing four hits and an unearned run.

He worked out of a sticky spot in the second when the Greyhounds loaded the bases with one out. Staples got Luke Andrade to hit into a 6-4-3 double play, ending the threat.

Andrade got a bit of redemption in the fourth by reaching on an error, allowing Zach Jacobs to score the only run of the game.

In the top of the sixth, Bellarmine's Austin Crutcher nearly spoiled Eyer's afternoon with a two-run bomb, but the long fly ball fell into Joe Trennepohl's mitt on the warning track in left field for the third out.

UIndy's five hits were tied for the fewest hits in a victory this season (five at Missouri-St. Louis March 14). It was also the first 1-0 for the Greyhounds.

GAME TWO: UIndy 7, Bellarmine 4

The Greyhounds capped the series sweep with a comeback win in the nightcap.

Bellarmine scored three runs in the first three innings on UIndy starter Adam Cornwell, all unearned.

In the second, Cody Scheler scored the first run of the game on a throwing error by Caleb Hallman. The Knights added two more in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly and a bases-loaded walk from Brett Collins.

UIndy cut into the lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Anthony Asalon that plated Andrade, making it 3-1.

The Hounds scored again in the seventh, taking the lead behind a four-hit, four-run inning. Asalon drove in his second run of the game on a single to right field, and Trennepohl plated two more with a bases-loaded single to left field. Mahala topped off the scoring with a sac fly to center, scoring Alex Ritchie.

With a 5-3 lead, UIndy added two more in the eighth for insurance. Andrade started the inning with a deep double to left center, and Ritchie later brought him home with a single to left. Trennepohl followed with a single to center field, scoring Asalon and making it 7-3.

The Knights added an unearned run in the top of the ninth, but did no further damage.

Andrade went 3 for 3 with three runs scored in the series finale, and Trennepohl was 3 for 5 with three RBIs.

Lefty Harry Dohery (3-0) picked up the win in two innings of relief, as the Hounds used five different pitchers throughout the contest. The staff allowed no earned runs and struck out eight combined.

The Greyhounds travel to face Illinois Springfield next weekend with doubleheaders scheduled for Saturday and Sunday starting at 1 p.m. ET.
