ticketsON TAPThe Greyhounds welcome the Truman State University Bulldogs Saturday, capping a week of Homecoming festivities on the UIndy campus.
HAPPY HOMECOMINGUIndy fans and alumni have been treated to a ton of success in recent Homecoming games. The Hounds have won four consecutive Homecoming dates and 10 of their last 11. UIndy's lone Homecoming loss since 2004 came in a 31-24 final versus Northwood in 2010.
HOMELAND SECURITYThe Greyhounds have compiled an impressive 26-5 (.839) record at Key Stadium since Head Coach Bob Bartolomeo took over in 2010. That span includes a 12-1 mark versus GLVC competition at home.
ABOUT TRUMANAfter starting 0-3 for the first time since 2005, the Bulldogs collected their first win of the season with a 31-14 final at Lincoln last Saturday. Truman held the Blue Tigers scoreless until the fourth quarter, while QB Devonte Black rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
Like UIndy's week-three opponent Southwest Baptist, the Bulldogs' leading rusher is their quarterback. Black averages 53 rushing yards per game, while three TSU running backs average between 32 and 42 rushing yards per contest.
Defensively, the Bulldogs allow just 292 yards per night, good for tops in the GLVC and 21st in Division II. Junior DB Austin Zoda leads the team with 40 total tackles and two forced fumbles.
DOG FIGHTWith Truman joining the GLVC in 2013, the Greyhounds and Bulldogs have just two games of history between them. Though UIndy won both previous match-ups, the final margin has yet to be more than seven points.
Last season at Truman, the Hounds scored the game's final 17 points – all in the fourth quarter – to earn a
23-20 comeback win. The Hounds out-gained their hosts 509 total yards to 193, but a season-high five turnovers dug the Hounds a substantial, but not insurmountable hole.
After enduring three interceptions and a pair of lost fumbles, UIndy found itself down 20-6 heading into the fourth quarter of the road contest. The Hounds sandwiched a three-and-out by Truman with a pair of TDs – a five-yard scramble by QB
Connor Barthel and a 70-yard gallop by senior
Matt Ripp – to tie it up.
With five-and-a-half minutes to play, kicker
Scott Miller connected from 31 yards for the eventual game winner. UIndy later denied the Bulldogs on two fourth-down conversions down the stretch to seal the win.
LAST TIME OUTIn its final non-conference game of the regular season, UIndy went on the road to secure a decisive
38-7 victory at Hillsdale last Saturday. The Greyhounds racked up a season-high 542 yards of total offense while holding their hosts scoreless for the final 51 minutes of play in the key region win.
Three Greyhounds compiled more than 100 all-purpose yards that night, including
Reece Horn (194 yds rec),
Tuwan Payton (71 rush, 43 rec, 14 ret) and
Andrew Walker (116 rush, 3 rec).
U-TURNUIndy had avoided the turnover bug through three weeks, but last Saturday it finally took a bite when a first-quarter interception at Hillsdale marked the Hounds' first giveaway of the year. Nevertheless, the team is still tied for first in Division II in fewest turnovers as one of only five schools with just a single turnover.
WALKER IS A RUNNERSophomore running back
Andrew Walker notched his second straight 100-yard game last Saturday. A week after compiling 106 rushing yards versus Southwest Baptist, the Chicago native went for a season-high 116 yards at Hillsdale last Saturday. The bulk of his yardage came on a break-away 53-yard touchdown dash in the fourth quarter – the longest rushing play for a Greyhound this season.
Walker has four career 100-yard games to his credit, including a career-high 152 yards in last year's meeting with Truman. He eclipsed 1,000 career rushing yards last week and now sits at 1,022.
PICK AS A DOGThe UIndy defense is working on quite a trend of late. For three consecutive weeks, a Greyhound was garnered his first career interception, with
Mike Hamilton (at Marian),
Aeneas White (vs. Southwest Baptist) and
Cole Sigmund (at Hillsdale) all earning their first collegiate pick.
BLOCK PARTYAnother positive trend could also be brewing for the Hounds. The special teams unit has generated a blocked field goal in each of the previous two weeks. Sophomore
Korey Rogan came off the edge to block a 29-yard attempt in the third quarter versus Southwest Baptist, while senior
Lee Campbell rushed the middle to swat a 46-yard try at Hillsdale, also in the third quarter.
REECE'S RECORD-BOOK CLIMBSenior
Reece Horn is coming off another monster week. The 6-3 wideout notched his third game of the year with at least 150 yards receiving, amassing 10 catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns at Hillsdale. His efforts moved him into second place on the UIndy all-time list in both receptions (203) and receiving TDs (27). He needs just 34 more yards to take over second in the program annals in career receiving yards.
In addition, Horn's current season total of 649 receiving yards tops all of Division II and ranks second among all NCAA football student-athletes. Meanwhile, his career total of 2,480 ranks third among all active DII players. See below for a look at the top five in each category.

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACKThe Greyhounds have won all three GLVC titles since the league began sponsoring football in 2012. They've compiled a stellar 23-1 (.958) record in conference play over that span, including the week-two victory against Southwest Baptist in this year's conference opener. UIndy was once again tabbed as the league favorite in the preseason coaches poll this season, while Truman was voted as No. 2 on the annual list.
With a GLVC mark of 7-1 last year, the Greyhounds won the league by two full games, topping a quartet of contenders at 5-3. It marked the first time UIndy won three straight conference championships since the school, then named Indiana Central College, took the Hoosier College Conference crown in 1953, '54 and '55.
UIndy's lone league loss in 2014 came at home in a 27-24 final versus William Jewell in the season finale. The decision marked the first-ever GLVC defeat for the Hounds and did them no favors in their quest for a third straight NCAA Division II playoff berth.
