INDIANAPOLIS- The UIndy women's soccer program added 10 signees to its 2015 roster during the spring signing period.
Of the 11 signees, seven are from Indiana, with two others coming from Illinois, another from Wisconsin and one from north of the border in Canada.
The first Hoosier signee is Stephanie Burdsall from nearby Danville, Ind. The four-year letterwinner for the Warriors is a four-time Sagamore Conference All-First Team selection, and a three-time team MVP. She also served as the Warriors' captain as both a junior and a senior, amassing 152 goals and 64 assists during her prep career. The National Honors Society student helped Danville to two Sagamore Conference championships as a junior and a senior.
Tia Peters will come to the Greyhounds from Chesterton High School. The soccer and track athlete was a scholar athlete and captain for the Trojans, and was named All-District and All-Conference as a senior on the soccer field. She was also a team captain as a senior, and helped her team to a pair of Duneland Athletic Conference championships her junior and senior years.
Another nearby product, Amber Perry, will come to UIndy from Greenwood, Ind. and Center Grove High School. Perry was a four-time letterwinner for the Trojans, earning three All-State and All-MIC selections during her career. She totaled 10 goals and nine assists during her prep years, helping the Trojans to four sectional and two regional championships as well as an IHSAA Final Four berth her junior season. She is also a four-time MIC Scholar Athlete.
Becca Riley will join the Greyhounds from Valparaiso, Ind. The honor roll student helped the Vikings to four sectional titles, scoring 47 goals and adding 14 assists along the way. Riley earned All-Duneland Athletic Conference honors as a senior, as well as a spot on the Post-Tribune All-Area Team and honors as the Indiana High School Coaches Association Top Team Player.
Another Indiana product, Emma Risley, comes to UIndy from Columbus, Ind. The four-year soccer letterwinner was a two-time Academic All-State honoree, and also earned First Team All-District and All-Conference Indiana honors as a junior. She is a two-time recipient of the Columbus North HS Bulldog Award that honors character and attitude. Risley helped CNHS to three conference and sectional championships, as well as an IHSAA Final Four berth her freshman year. She is also a National Honor Society member and honor roll student.
Heather Roeder of LaVille High School also hails from Indiana. She earned four soccer letters for the Lancers, helping them to to four conference and three sectional championships. Roeder is a four-time All-Northern State Conference selection and was team captain as a senior. The National Honors Society member notched 75 goals and added 24 assists during her prep career.
Upland, Ind.'s Sierra Singer will join UIndy after earning 11 total letters at Eastbrook High School. The Soccer, basketball and track athlete is a three-time soccer team MVP for the Panthers, helping her team to a pair of sectional titles. She was also a team captain as a junior and a senior, scoring 114 goals in her high school career. Her 47 goals as a sophomore is a Grant County record, and she is also an honor roll student who will graduate with Academic Honors.
From Plainfield, Ill., Michele Govern will join the Greyhounds. The Plainfield South High School product earned letters in cross country, track and field and soccer while a Cougar, and is also a National Honors Society member as well as an AP Scholar and High Honor Roll student. She was her club team's captain for four years and helped her team to a second ranking in the state of Illinois in 2014.
Hope Huelsmann will also come to UIndy from neighboring Illinois. The Mater Dei Breese product earned four soccer letters for the Knights, Huelsmann is a two-time Offensive Player of the Year, and was her team's MVP last season. She was also an All-Metro honorable mention selection as a junior, and will close out her senior season this spring. In three seasons, the National Honor Society member has 39 goals and nine assists, while helping the Knights to three IHSA Regional titles and maintaining a spot on the honor roll.
Amy Wilson will head south from Wisconsin to attend UIndy. The Tremper High School product helped her team to a pair of Wisconsin state tournaments before electing to play club soccer her junior and senior years. On the club field, Wilson's team was the 2013 Wisconsin State Club Champions, and also took fourth nationally in 2014.
Caitlynn comes to UIndy from Surrey, BC (Canada). A two-year varsity goalkeeper for Fleetwood Park Secondary, she saw her team become Provincial and State Champions in 2014. Caitlynn began here club soccer playing career in 2008, spending her last three seasons playing with Langley FC. Caitlynn was awarded goalkeeper of the year 2014 season by Langley FC.
