INDIANAPOLIS -- The UIndy football team used a stout defense and a big third quarter to hand Lincoln a 38-7 defeat at Key Stadium Saturday. The Greyhounds (3-5, 2-3 GLVC) held the visiting Blue Tigers to just 132 total yards on the night after pulling away with 21 points in the third quarter.
The Tigers' total yardage marked the lowest sum by a Greyhound opponent since Kentucky Wesleyan mustered just 73 yards in 2013. The Hounds were in the Lincoln backfield seemingly all night, racking up a season-high six sacks, including two each from senior
Derrick Bryant and sophomore
Lucas Rice.
Redshirt freshman quarterback
Bryce Stancombe threw for two touchdowns and junior running back
Andrew Walker rushed for a two more, while senior linebacker
Rob Dury finished with a team-high 11 tackles to move into eighth on the program's all-time tackle list.
Â
Up three at the half, the Greyhounds pulled away with a game-changing 21-point third quarter. UIndy opened the second half with a 63-yard scoring drive, capped by the second rushing TD of the night by junior
Andrew Walker. The next two Greyhounds scores came in short order, as UIndy took advantage of fumbles on consecutive snaps by the Lincoln offense. Both fumbles, recovered by Dury and
Dillon Dallas, respectively, gave the Hounds a short field. Stancombe made the Blue Tigers pay with touchdown passes after each turnover, finding
Garrett Willis and
Malik Higgins in the end zone within three minutes of each other.
Â
Now up three scores, the Hounds tacked on one more touchdown early in the fourth quarter to essentially put the game away. Redshirt freshman
Tyre Lee garnered six carries and a reception on the drive, including picking up his first career TD on a five-yard rush.
Â
The Greyhounds remain at home next weekend to host the William Jewell Cardinals Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. ET. The game will be available online on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN app.

Note: Dury finished the night with 363 tackles for his career, passing UIndy Hall of Famer Dave Wood (1972-75) for eighth on UIndy's all-time list … Walker notched his fifth career multi-touchdown game. He now has 32 career rushing scores, tying former-teammate Matt Ripp for second all-time at UIndy … junior Brad Schickel connected on a season-long 43-yard field goal in the first quarter as well as a career-best 59-yard punt in the third ... freshman Jacob Schmatz was credited with a blocked field goal in the third quarter, good for the Hounds' first such block since week four of last season.
