CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.- Seventeen UIndy wrestlers placed in the top eight at the annual Indiana Little State tournament, held on the campus of Wabash College this year, with four taking 2016 Little State championships.
"We can take away some good things and some bad from today's meet," redshirt sophomore
Dylan Faulkenberg said. "The good outweights the bad, giving us a good place to get better from. I think if we fix some little things we could be really tough looking forward to our upcoming meets. All in all it was a good day for the Hounds."
There were Greyhounds on the mat in seven of the 10 championship matches, with
Angelo Robles taking the first UIndy title at 141. Robles (5-1), went 4-0 on the day with two falls. The redshirt sophomore did not allow a point, winning the title match over Gage Torres of Indiana Tech 7-0.

Heath Lange was the second Greyhound champion, going 4-0 through the 157 bracket. Lange (7-0) had a pair of pins as well on the day, one in just 16 seconds, and won his championship bout with a 6-1 decision over DIII #2 Nick Bova of Wabash.
At 184, DII #3
Taylor DeLong (7-0) had three falls on the day, and now has six pins in his seven wins on the season. The redshirt senior took the 184 title in just 55 seconds, over
Cayden Whitaker, who was wrestling unattached.
DII #7 Faulkenberg (9-1) closed out the Greyhound championships, taking his second-straight Little State title at 285. Faukenberg went 4-0 on the day with a pair of pins and a tech fall en route to the championship, pinning NAIA #6 Guy Henson of Indiana Tech in the final, in just 46 seconds.
A trio of Greyhounds took second place finishes at this year's edition of Little State, with senior
Barry McGinley taking runner up honors at 165. McGinley (7-3) went 3-1 on the day, opening his tournament with a pin, ultimately falling by a 5-1 decision to Connor Brummett of Wabash in the 165 championship.
Redshirt junior
Luke Kriech (4-4) went 3-1 through the 174 bracket, with a pin and a tech fall to his credit on the day. His lone loss came to Darden Schurg of Wabash in the title match. Redshirt freshman Brody Connor (6-3) also took second after opening his day with a pin, falling to DIII #1 Riley Lefever in the championship. Â
Four more Greyhounds took third place finishes, with true freshman
Ana Abduljelil (5-3) going 2-1 on the day at 125.
Connor Knapp opened his season with a third place showing at 133, going 3-1, taking his only loss to NAIA #9 Enrique Early of Indiana Tech. Redshirt junior
Neal Molloy (8-1) also went 3-1 on the day at 149, including a pin and a major decision. Redshirt freshman
Austin Robbins (5-5) took his third place finish at 174, also going 3-1 with a major.

Kyle Keller (2-3), who took fourth at 133,
Brendon Kelley (4-3), who took fourth at 174,
Joe Kieffer (6-2), who took fifth at 133,
Kyle Barkovich (4-7), who took sixth at 149, and
Andrew Frey (3-5), who took eighth at 141.
The Greyhounds will head to St. Charles, Mo., next weekend for a Saturday dual at Lindenwood, before hosting the 38th annual Midwest Classic Dec. 17-18 in Nicoson Hall to close out the fall semester.
