Football secures highest-ever final national ranking

WACO, Texas – The UIndy football team made history Monday with the release of the year's final AFCA Division II Coaches Poll. The Greyhounds (10-2) were voted the No. 11 team in the rankings, good for the program's highest-ever position in the season's final poll.

The Hounds topped their previous highest final ranking, which came in the form of a No. 13 nod just 12 months ago. UIndy has now appeared in the AFCA top 25 for 25 consecutive weeks , upping its program record for longest continuous stay in the national poll.

This past season, UIndy hit a number of benchmarks, including notching its fifth-ever 10-win campaign, a sixth GLVC title in seven years and its second-ever playoff victory. After earning a repeat trip to the NCAA Division II playoffs, the Greyhounds scored 21 fourth-quarter points to earn a comeback win versus 19th-ranked Fort Hayes State in the first round of the postseason.

This also marked the final season for veteran head man Bob Bartolomeo, who announced his retirement Dec. 3. UIndy has since tabbed longtime assistant Chris Keevers as the new Greyhound head coach.
