INDIANAPOLIS – With the release of the 2018 NCAA Division II Championship field Monday, the UIndy women's golf team was dubbed the No. 1 seed at the upcoming East Super Regional. The Greyhounds will be one of 12 teams at the regional, set for May 7-9 at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.
Â
Prior to Monday, the Hounds had already earned an automatic berth to the postseason after winning an unprecedented seventh consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference title over the weekend. They will be joined by three other GLVC teams at regionals, including Missouri-St. Louis (3 seed), Illinois Springfield (6) and Southern Indiana (11). GLIAC-champion Grand Valley State was awarded the No. 2 seed, with Findlay (4) and Northern Michigan (5) also highly seeded.
Â
Each of the nation's four super regionals will consist of team and individual competition conducted concurrently, with 12 teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. All participants will compete throughout 54 holes of competition, with the top three teams along with the top three individuals not with an advancing team moving on to the championships. The 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 16-19 at Wildcat Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
Â
The Hounds will be making their 12th consecutive trip to the postseason. Last season, UIndy won its sixth straight regional crown before going on to a third-place finish at nationals.
