Jason Reed announced on Tuesday the additions of Madi Rosenberger and Gillian Santana to the 2019 roster.
Head coach
Jason Reed is thrilled about adding two defensive specialists to the incoming class. "Madi and Gillian bring the type of competitiveness we need as our program continues to grow and thrive," Reed said on Tuesday. "We're excited for them to get on campus and get to work with us."
Â
Rosenberger will join the Greyhounds after competing at Bethel College this past fall. While at Bethel, Rosenberger broke the program record for most digs by a freshman.
Â
As a prep player at Union County High School, she was named an all-area performer her final two seasons, which included leading the conference in kills. In total, Rosenberger finished her career as a Patriot with 1,055 kills and 748 digs. The Centerville, Ind. native also earned letters in softball, and earned an all-conference nod her sophomore season.
"Madi is a competitor and really wants to play at the high level that NCAA Division II provides," Reed said of the transfer.
Â
Rosenberger plans to major in Business Administration and will begin classes at UIndy immediately this spring.
Â
Santana will enroll at UIndy in the fall after spending four seasons at LaPorte High School in northern Indiana.
Â
Santana earned all-district distinction this past fall as a senior after recording 479 digs as the Slicers' libero. Overall in her four-year prep career, Santana totaled 1,383 digs and 126 aces, while helping LaPorte to four seasons of 20+ wins. She also earned the LaPorte Herald Argus Player of the Year honors as a senior.
Â
As success came on the court, Santana also was recognized for her effort in the classroom, earning a spot on the honor roll and National Honors Society. She plans to major in Public Health Education and Promotion at UIndy.
"We love adding players to our program that have had success in the past, and Gillian definitely brings that from LaPorte," Reed stated. "With her individual success combined with the team's, we're excited for her to bring that here to UIndy."
Â
Rosenberger and Santana join Elizabeth Eads and Grace Hegwood for the 2019 incoming class, who signed letters of intent prior to the new year.
