INDIANAPOLIS – After leading the UIndy volleyball team to three wins, senior setter Alyssa Spears was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Baden Offensive Player of the Week. The Greyhounds earned a victory at Bellarmine last Tuesday before returning home to down No. 6 Lewis and Illinois Springfield over the weekend.
 
The Heltonville, Ind., native averaged 11.9 assists/set during the three wins, including 46 helpers in the sweep at Bellarmine. Spears also recorded 54 assists in back-to-back matches against the sixth-ranked Flyers and Prairie Stars. The senior also contributed six kills in three matches, with four coming on Saturday against Illinois Springfield.
 
Spears was also spectacular defensively, recording two double-doubles last week. Along with her 54 assists, the Bedford North Lawrence product tallied 12 digs against Lewis and 10 scoops against Illinois Springfield. She has now posted seven double-doubles on the season.
 
UIndy will compete at the Midwest Region Crossover this coming weekend, with a rematch against Saginaw Valley State on tap for Friday afternoon at The Academy Volleyball in Indianapolis.
