INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy football team captured two of the three GLVC Player of the Week awards announced Monday, as junior running back
Al McKeller (offensive) and senior linebacker
Joe Lambright (special teams) earned recognition for their performances in last weekend's win versus Missouri S&T.
Â
McKeller was the focal point of the Greyhound offense, garnering 30 caries on the way to a season-high 184 yards. The local product also scored a pair of touchdowns, upping his streak of games with a rushing TD to seven. His performance boosted his career rushing total to 3,258 yards, propelling him from No. 6 all the way to No. 3 on UIndy's all-time list. The announcement marks his fourth GLVC weekly award of his career and first of the season.
Â
Meanwhile, Lambright picked up his second career GLVC weekly honor and first of the special teams variety. The Leo, Ind., native blocked a Miner punt in the third quarter that the Hounds recovered for a touchdown. He also scored a TD of his own with a 60-yard fumble return in the fourth. The senior linebacker added nine tackles and a pass break-up to round out an all-round stellar performance.
Â
On tap for UIndy is its final regular-season contest. The Greyhounds travel to Lindenwood University on Saturday, Nov. 2 in a battle of GLVC unbeatens.
