INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy football team debuted at No. 3 in the season's first set of NCAA Super Region Three rankings, released Monday. The Greyhounds are one of four unbeaten teams in the region, topped by GLIAC-leader Ferris State.
Â
The top seven teams from the country's four regions will earn berths in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. As in previous years, the No. 1 seed in each region will earn a bye, while seeds 2-4 will host first-round games on Nov. 23. However, a new wrinkle was added this season, giving the NCAA DII Football Committee flexibility to shuffle seeds 5-7 out of region or in-region to a closer destination to cut down on the number of charter flights.

UIndy is looking to earn its third consecutive trip to the Division II playoffs and sixth overall. Last season, the Hounds earned a spot in the second round with a
38-27 win versus No. 19 Fort Hays State – their second-ever postseason victory.
