NCAA Releases Initial DII Football Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy football team debuted at No. 3 in the season's first set of NCAA Super Region Three rankings, released Monday. The Greyhounds are one of four unbeaten teams in the region, topped by GLIAC-leader Ferris State.

The top seven teams from the country's four regions will earn berths in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. As in previous years, the No. 1 seed in each region will earn a bye, while seeds 2-4 will host first-round games on Nov. 23. However, a new wrinkle was added this season, giving the NCAA DII Football Committee flexibility to shuffle seeds 5-7 out of region or in-region to a closer destination to cut down on the number of charter flights. Click here for an in-depth explanation of the change.

UIndy is looking to earn its third consecutive trip to the Division II playoffs and sixth overall. Last season, the Hounds earned a spot in the second round with a 38-27 win versus No. 19 Fort Hays State – their second-ever postseason victory.
