GREENWOOD, Ind. – UIndy volleyball senior Alyssa Spears was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team on Thursday afternoon, becoming the second straight Greyhound to earn the award.
 
Majoring in Social Work, Spears has accumulated a 3.91 GPA as an undergraduate to find herself on the organization's first team. The CoSIDA Academic All-America squads will be announced in December.
 
The Heltonville, Ind., native currently ranks third in the GLVC and 16th in NCAA Division II with 11.19 assists/set, as the senior approaches 4,000 career helpers. In addition to the career milestone, Spears is just 69 assists from reaching 3,000 at UIndy. The senior has been an All-GLVC Second-Team selection in two of her first three seasons, including the honor as a rookie at St. Joseph's College in 2016.
 
Spears and the Greyhounds wrap up the regular season this weekend at Ruth Lilly Fitness Center with a pair of league matches, including Drury on Nov. 16 for senior day.
