Women's Basketball Signs Three During Early Signing Period

INDIANAPOLIS – The 2019 early signing period has come to an end and the UIndy women's basketball team has already added three new members to their team for next season. Kristin Wodrich and staff will welcome two players from the Indianapolis area as well as one from just outside of Chicago to their team.

Forward Caroline Jakaitis comes to UIndy from South Elgin, Ill., for her collegiate career. The St. Charles North Star arrives to the south side after being named honorable mention all-conference as a junior. Jakaitis was also a two-time letterman in volleyball for the Stars.

Mackenzie Stien comes to UIndy from nearby Brownsburg, Ind., where she was a letterman in both basketball and track for the Bulldogs. In track, Stien was a state finalist in both the 55 and 100 meter hurdles. Stien's prep career in basketball was also successful right away as her team won back-to-back sectional titles in her first two years with the program. Mackenzie's mother, Esther, is a UIndy alum.

Final recruit for the Hounds also hails from the Circle City. Illani Williams-Harris makes the short trip from Covenant Christian to join the Greyhound program. Williams-Harris has been on three teams that went on to win a sectionals title. During her junior year, Illani's team went 18-9 on their way to regionals.
