ON TAP
The UIndy women's basketball team opens up their 2019-20 season this weekend. The Hounds will make the trip up to Michigan for the conference crossover when they face Alderson Broaddus on Friday before going up against Malone on Saturday afternoon.

HOUNDS vs. BATTLERS
UIndy and Alderson Broaddus meet for the first time Friday night. The Battlers were one of the first members of the Great Midwestern Athletic Conference, joining the G-MAC back in 2013.

ABOUT ALDERSON BROADDUS
The Battlers are coming off a 4-21 season last year, losing their only neutral site game to Clarion by 53-48. AB returns their top scorer from a year ago in Jeana Weatherspoon who averaged 9.4 points per game last year, playing in all 25 games while starting 21 games. The sophomore also led the team in rebounds, grabbing just under six rebounds per game.

As for this year, Alderson Broaddus collected 17 points in the G-MAC preseason coaches poll, good for 12th in the conference. The Battlers finished 12th in the conference last season with a 4-18 record within the G-MAC.

HOUNDS vs. PIONEERS
UIndy and Malone have one previous meeting prior to this weekend. The Hounds and Pioneers met back in 2015 in Canton. Malone beat UIndy 80-66 in the matchup, the game came in the midst of a 0-6 start. The matchup against the Pioneers will be the first of the Kristin Wodrich era for the Greyhounds.

ABOUT MALONE
Malone enters their 2019-20 season after going 15-14 last season. The Pioneers went 13-9 in the G-MAC, earning them a bid to the conference tournament where they were eliminated by Cedarville in their opening round game. Malone is led by last year's G-MAC coach of the year Selana Reale, who returns her leading scorer from a season ago in sophomore Robin Campbell who averaged 14 points per game as a freshman.

After finshing sixth in the conference last season, the Pioneers were picked to finish seventh in the preseason coaches' poll for the 2019-20 season. Malone collected 85 points in the poll, just six points shy of sixth place while comfortably ahead of Trevecca Nazarene in 8th place.

WODRICH vs. G-MAC
Since taking over the women's basketball program in 2016, head coach Kristin Wodrich has compiled a 6-2 record against current G-MAC schools. After going 3-0 in her first season, Wodrich went 1-2 with a win coming against Tiffin in 2017. The Hounds went 2-0 against G-MAC schools a season ago with a season-opening win over Hillsdale to open the year before beating Tiffin at home in late November.

STARTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT
UIndy has won two of the three season opening games since Kristin Wodrich took over as coach of the Greyhounds. Just like this year, the Hounds tipped off the season last year in Michigan. UIndy took care of business against Hillsdale on their home court, winning by two.

The last time UIndy dropped a season-opener was against Northern Michigan in 2017. Current UIndy forward Emma Benoit scored four points for the Wildcats that night as Northern Michigan won 59-53 in Nicoson Hall.
