INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy volleyball team premiered at No. 7 in the NCAA's initial regional rankings, announced Wednesday afternoon. As in year's past, the top eight teams from the Midwest Region advance to postseason play and compete at the top seed's facility.
Â
The Greyhounds are 17-7 overall this season, including a 15-6 in-region record with wins over top-ranked Lewis, eighth-seeded Saginaw Valley and Bellarmine, who rounds out the top 10. UIndy has posted a 3-4 record against the top 10 regional teams, suffering losses to Hillsdale, Missouri-St. Louis, Ashland and Saginaw Valley.
Â
Rockhurst, ranked ninth, is next on the schedule for UIndy with regional implications at stake. First serve between the Greyhounds and Hawks is set for 8 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo. this Friday evening.
Â
Last season, UIndy was left on the outside looking in when the final eight teams were announced after the GLVC Championship Tournament. There are four matches remaining on the regular-season docket for the Greyhounds, including Drury on Nov. 16 at 4 p.m. for senior day.
