INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy track & field teams kick off their 2019-2020 indoor season on Friday by competing in two different locations. Some members of the teams will make their way to Allendale, Michigan for the GVSU Holiday Open, while others will stay in Naptown for the UIndy Season Opener in the UIndy ARC. GVSU will commence their meet at approximately 2:45 p.m., and UIndy will kick off their home opener at 4 p.m.
The Greyhounds graduated several high-quality student-athletes last academic year after securing a men's GLVC title and a women's GLVC runner-up finish in the indoor season. The teams qualified four Greyhounds to the NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships, including returning-junior
Lauren Bailey.
The men's GLVC title last season was their sixth conference indoor championship in the last 10 season, as they surpassed Lewis for the most GLVC Indoor championships all-time. Some big-time returners include junior
Dallas Ford, who took home the GLVC gold medal in the 60-meter hurdles.
Keeton Adams will look to be one of the men's top throwers this season after reaching second overall last year at the GLVC Indoor championships.
The women's field events, pole vault specifically, dominated the conference last academic year, sweeping the medals in the event. Brittany Clark,
Megan Young and
Lauren Joseph will look to repeat that same success this season, while teammate
Mary Costello aims to join the conversation after placing 15
th at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field championships last spring. Bailey just concluded a fantastic Cross Country season two weeks ago, where she placed ninth overall in the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships in Sacramento, California.
The Greyhounds will have two more meets in each of the next two weeks, and then host three home competitions following the winter break.
