INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's track & field team secured its second consecutive conference indoor title Sunday, compiling 163 points to easily top runner-up McKendree at the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Indoor Championships. The Greyhound women, meanwhile, took second by the slimmest of margins, as Lewis University's 168.5 points topped the Hounds by a mere point and a half – the smallest-ever margin of victory for an GLVC Indoor meet. The two-day meet was held on the UIndy campus in the Athletics and Recreation Center.

The UIndy men captured their sixth conference indoor title in the last 10 seasons, surpassing Lewis for the most GLVC Indoor championships all-time. On the women's side, UIndy and Lewis combined for 335.5 points this weekend, more than the nine other teams combined.

Through the two days of competition, the Greyhound men and women racked up a total of 13 event titles, three GLVC meets records and one program mark. Additionally, senior
Austin Hogan earned his third consecutive GLVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year award.

SUNDAY
The Greyhound throwers once again led the way, as the UIndy men and women combined for 47 points in the shot put.
Austin Hogan and
Katie Monk each set new GLVC meet records by winning their respective gender's event. Hogan snapped a six-year GLVC mark with a throw of 17.81 meters, while Monk broke her own GLVC record set just last season with her 14.75-meter heave.
Keeton Adams took the silver on the men's side with a PR of 16.68 meters.

With her second gold of the meet, sophomore
Lauren Bailey etched her name into the UIndy record books with a winning time of 9:58.09 in the women's 3000 meter race. She is now the program record holder in three indoor events, including the 3K, 5K and, along with her relay teammates, the DMR.

The Hounds racked up a ton of points in the 60-meter hurdles events.
Keri Ertel won her second conference title on the women's side, hitting an NCAA provisional mark with a PR of 8.78. The UIndy men went 1-3-4-5 in the event, with
Dallas Ford (8.25) taking first and
Sam Bokodi (8.38) third, both with PRs.

The UIndy women's pole vaulters had arguably the most dominating performance of the meet, as five Greyhounds combined to score 32 points in the event. Freshman and UIndy record-holder
Brittney Clark made a big impression in her first GLVC meet, winning the event with a mark of 3.67 meters. UIndy swept the podium spots as fellow-freshman
Megan Young and
Lauren Joseph tied her second at 3.57 meters.

Senior
DeAndre Bluitt secured his second straight gold medal in the indoor high jump. He set a PR by clearing 2.07 meters, coming just shy of the program's 17-year-old mark of 2.08 meters.

Senior
Trace Oswalt won the men's heptathlon with a score of 4565, while
Courtlin Kelly took the bronze with an even 4300.

Other notable performances included silver medal-winning efforts from
Taylor Strnad and
Briana Leonard; both set PRs Sunday, as Strnad cleared 1.67 meters in the high jump and Leonard finished the mile in 5:13.37.
Mary Watts (400m),
Mickayla Wenzel (mile) and
Allen Wright (200m) all captured bronze medals.

SATURDAY

The UIndy women's team racked up a combined 25 points in the weight throw alone, taking the first, second, fourth and seventh positions.
Hilary Paxson just edged teammate
Katie Monk to take the gold, launching the 20-pound weight 20.34 meters. The mark was good for both an NCAA A-cut and the GLVC meet record. Monk took the silver with a toss of 20.07 meters, followed by a PRs from both
Katrinia Hopkins (17.36) and
Lillie Cain (15.97).

The UIndy men fared nearly as well in the weight throw, compiling 24 points for their squad. Senior
Austin Hogan led the way with a winning throw of 20.27, good for a new personal best.
AJ Murphy broke off a big PR of 17.91 meter to earn silver and hit an NCAA provisional mark, while
Keeton Adams' PR of 16.86 meters secured fourth and
Nic Ray (15.21) finished eighth.

The Hounds earned two more individual golds, as sophomore
Lauren Bailey won the women's 5000 meters in 17:12.58 and sophomore
Brady Walden took the men's long jump with a PR of 7.07 meters.

Later, the UIndy women won the distance medley relay, as
Briana Leonard,
Isabel Bradley,
Yailene Leon and
Mickayla Wenzel bested the field by nearly five seconds with a time of 12:20.77.

Meanwhile, the Greyhounds went 4-5 in the men's 5K, with
Chris Switzer finishing in 15:34.63 and
Nathan Herbst in 15:36.24. Newlyweds
Trace Oswalt and
Kirsti Oswalt each scored points in the long jump, with Trace (6.77) placing sixth in the men's event and Kirsti (5.13) eighth in the women's. Trace also contributed two points with a seventh-place showing in the pole vault, two spots behind teammate
Devin Jaremczuk.
