INDIANAPOLIS – The GLVC released their final player of the week award winners Monday afternoon and for the first time all season, a UIndy women's basketball player was named conference player of the week. Junior forward
Emma Benoit was tabbed conference player of the year for the first time in her career after her performances last week.
Â
The Northern Michigan transfer notched her eighth double-double of the season last week in the team's comeback win over Truman, who was ranked sixth in last week's regional poll. Benoit grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds in UIndy's win over the Bulldogs while also scoring 24 points of 10-of-16 shooting. In the final game of the season against Quincy, Benoit flirted with a double-double despite playing in foul trouble against the Hawks. Playing 25 minutes in the win, the Gilberts, Ill., native still finished with 10 points and eight rebounds in the Greyhound victory.
Â
Benoit is the first Greyhound to receive GLVC player of the week honors since
Martha Burse in December 2017.
