INDIANAPOLIS –
The GLVC released their All-GLVC list Wednesday afternoon with two Greyhounds garnering all-conference honors. Juniors
Laura Thomas and
Emma Benoit were both named to the All-GLVC Third Team by league coaches. It is the first time since the 2016-17 season that UIndy has had two players named to one of the three all-conference squads.
Â
A transfer from D-I Northern Kentucky, Thomas was the only Greyhound to start all 28 games for Head Coach
Kristin Wodrich this year. Thomas led the team in scoring, putting up 14.4 points per game in her first season with the Greyhounds. In addition to leading her team in points, Thomas was also one of the leaders in the conference in minutes played, finishing third in the GLVC at 32.5 minutes per contest. Thomas was the lone Greyhound to score 30 points in a single game this season, scoring 33 points in the team's win over Lake Superior State, shooting 50 percent from the field and going 10-for-11 from the foul line in the win.
Â
Also in her first year at UIndy,
Emma Benoit played in all 28 games, making 27 starts at forward. The Northern Michigan transfer gave the Hounds immediate contributions in the paint, finishing the year with a team-high eight double-doubles, tied for seventh most in a single season in program history. Benoit finished 12th in the league in scoring at 13.4 points per game and was top five in both rebounds (7.5 rpg) and blocked shots (1.64 bpg).
Â
In addition to being named to all-conference, Thomas was selected as UIndy's recipient of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. The sport's 14 nominees are now eligible to become one of their school's two overall Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
