INDIANAPOLIS- For the fifth year in a row, the UIndy women's tennis team is headed to the NCAA Division II Regionals, announced Tuesday evening on NCAA.com.
The Greyhounds (21-0) will host their half of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional, at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Ind., May 13-14. Undefeated UIndy, ranked #6 in the ITA NCAA Division II Team Rankings this week, is the top seed in the event and will open the NCAA postseason against the winner of #4 seed Drury and five-seed Northwood after earning a first-round bye. The Greyhounds and Northwood have not met this season, while the Panthers gave UIndy one of its closest matches on the season, with the visiting Greyhounds taking a 5-2 win over Drury way back on Mar. 3 of this year.
A season ago, it was the Panthers who took out the Greyhounds in the NCAA Regional final. The other half of this season's edition of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional will be hosted at Wayne State, with the two-seed Warriors playing #7 seed Walsh. The winner of that match will then face off with the winner of #3 seed Grand Valley and six-seed Hillsdale.
The 16 winners in the Regional round will advance to the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships May 21-24, in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
