AUSTIN, Texas – UIndy student-athlete
Halie Waters was named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Softball Second Team, announced Wednesday. The sophomore pitcher was an all-conference and all-region performer on the field, and a 3.99 student as a Biology and Psychology double-major in the classroom.
Waters finished a breakout second season with a 23-11 record and 1.88 ERA in the circle. The Boonville, Ind., product led the GLVC in wins (23), saves (5) and batting average against (.186) while ranking second in strikeouts (224). She amassed six shutouts on the year, including her first career no-hitter versus Lewis, on the way to All-GLVC First Team and All-Midwest Region Second Team accolades.
With Waters as its ace, UIndy earned a share of the GLVC regular-season title, earned the three-seed NCAA DII Midwest Regional and advanced all the way to the Super Regional before being knocked out by top-seeded Grand Valley State.
Waters becomes the seventh Academic All-American in UIndy softball history and first since
Morgan Foley in 2016.
