GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- For the sixth year running, a UIndy women's tennis player finished atop the ITA Regional A Singles draw, with sophomore
Nikol Alekseeva topping her teammate
Alina Kislitskaya to advance to the ITA Oracle Cup.
Alekseeva, a two-seed in the bracket, went 6-0 en route to the title. Kislitskaya (5-1) advanced through the bracket as the #15 seed, claiming a win over the 8-seed, Viktoriya Zheleva of Drury, along the way.
In addition to the A Singles win, Greyhounds also topped the B Singles and B Doubles brackets. Sophomore
Anna Valiaeva, the two-seed in the B Singles field, took the title with a 6-0 run over the three-day event. The duo of
Maja Pindelska and
Lizaveta Demchenko finished at the top of the B Doubles bracket, defeating Wayne State's Skalda and Radu in the draw's finale, good for their fifth win of the weekend.Â
Alekseeva and
Anna Novikova, seeded atop the field, finished as runners up in the A Doubles draw, falling in the bracket finale to Southwest Baptist's Dungen and Zheng.Â
Alekseeva will now head to the ITA Oracle Cup in Rome, Ga., Oct. 17-20, while the rest of the Greyhounds will await the beginning of the spring season.
